Snowboard to Longboard

The board is completed. I fitted my old truck with brand new wheels and bearings. This Abec3 Retro wheels are 75mm diameter and 78A.
And how about the flex ? I must admit that the tail too flexy but by positionning the rear foot near the truck, it would not be a big problem. So global flex of the board provides a smooth ride, very apreciable while cruising even on rought surfaces. The soft wheels (78A!) would not slide as well as I am not a hard rider !
As a conclusion, I can say that I am fond of this feeling, a bit like snowboarding !
I am looking forward for my next projet ! I plan to keep the strenght of the snowboard the next design will be more symetrical, cutting the board nose and tail. An other approach, I wanted the first one with a kick tail... So if you have a cool board who seems to be dead. I would be happy to cut it for my next project !

60k - It is not the bus restoration 's pictures who manage to update the blog. But I can not say that the projet is in a stand by ! I am about to achieve the front beam with my friend oliv' ud les Latinbug. So the next time I manage to book a saturday morning for shortening and drilling torsion leaf, I will be able to post a report on this blog !

Mais pour le moment, je bosse les enduits et les badigeons de chaux mais ça, j'ai pas cogité à l'écrire en Anglais !

Great Week End in Provence

We had a great trip to Avignon and Nîmes with the Fastback. On the way back, we drove along the RN7. the ex-holydays road. We enjoyed to find and see old garages, some as a ruin or some revamped for an other business but still there.
Unfortunatly the RN7 museum was closed, I will have to book a visit in a near future !

Snowboard to Longboard

I always wanted a cool skate for cruising with my children. As true longboards are a bit expensive for my family budget, I planned to cut out one from an used snowboard. In a first time, I brought a board from a young girl. But when I wanted to test the flex by simulating a 70cm wheelbase with 2 bottles, the board gently inflected to the floor ! Hum... As I do not plan to make a "boardscappers" club, I had to forget this projet for a while...
I found this stiffer board at a local swapmeet. The flex should be pretty cool for this project, I feel... I found some big Retro wheel on Ebay. So, I stuck some paper tape and I drew a sketch of the shape. Note the room made to prevent a dangerous "wheel bite". 100x22cm, Wheel base 75cm. It should be nice don't you think ?

Pegasus at Epoqu' Auto 2009

These Pesagus were hanged on Mobile fuel station's walls in 1950's. It's the second I luckily see. As they are made of zinc, you always see it in gorgeous condition. Actually, this one had little dings on a rear foot, but nothing makes me stop of dreaming of it !
The price of this dream ? 1300€

Stuck at the garage...

The Oval battery will be checked tomorrow, I hope it will be rechageable because I don't intend to buy a new one until the next spring !
Nevermind, the Fast will lead me to Epoq'Auto as well as the Oval would do,doesn't he ?

Garage sunday

I managed to spend an half of an hour at the garage. The Oval's battery claims for a charge of few Amps (if it is still possible...). I am sad to realize that the last time I drove it was for the Hangar Rockin' in July ! But what a trip... (Sun & rain, mountains roads, alone behind the wheel)
This is the first picture showing Fast's number plates, legal oldschool french plates... (Comme une R12, unbeliveable!)

Cruising

After visiting Olivier for working on the westy's front beam, I got a ride in the mountains for testing the Fast abilities on these roads. Awesome, the chassis is wonderful in the curves and how about the engine noise ? Hum sweet !

Last thursday, the Fast succeeded the last gate to the title. It had got his controle ! The guy noticed some minor rust on the lower bodyshell but the car was congratulated for its good brakes and suspension. I just have to trim pitman's arm stops and the left hand cable of the emergency brake assy.

Have a seat...

... and a true one !

No need to say that I am fond of Jerôme 's work... Of Course materials do a lot of the job of course but Gomez knowhow magnifies interiors. His flawless job gives all the genuine atmoshere to our veedubs. These words are a summary of my feeling when I am enjoying to see each of "his" cars.
Now I would want to describe an other sensation, located a bit lower than a look... Woosh how good I was sitting on this seat !!! Gosh, I was willing to stole the keys to Olivier and have a great ride to the french riviera with this confortable car ! It did not seem obsolete at all. Due to Jerôme skills, your posture behind the wheel is right and your butt is firmly maintained... just like the day of this beetle ?

Bus owners seem having a pleasant week end along side the lake thanks to Phiphat and Christelle. They managed perfectly this meeting and they set it up in only three months ! Congratulations.
I hardly wish they will set up the next meeting in 2010...

I know you will easilly guess where most of these plate will go... I thank you for your orders, I adore to build these virtual plate walls. But the satisfaction comes from the new range too, custom orders are always welcome. Blue and yellow plates are periode correct for late vws.

I think Jérôme found the right material to match the pinstripes cloth. In fact he used it for trimming the seats of a Beryl green car. So its green shade is most "Peppermint" than "Mango", and does not match with the westy interior color. But when when i lay a piece of material on a Seagull Grey area, it actually disapears drunk by the green-grey ! Just like the pinstripes cloth does on a Mango area !!!
So I played with the white balance of my camera to take these photosgraphs with a mango and seagull grey part. One balance is focused on a white paper sheet and the other is balanced yellow. I was amased how the three colors played together... Good job Jerôme !
